Brendan Fraser faced several setbacks mentally and physically behind the scenes.
Everyone is rooting for him, it is clear by now, Brendan Fraser is making a comeback in a major way. At one point in time, Fraser was among the elite, particularly during the late ’90s and early 2000s. His career would shift and in 2008, it seemed as though completely disappeared. His net worth decreased, while he also face some marital problems behind the scenes.
As it turns out, that was just a start to all the problems that would emerge behind the scenes. Fraser faced multiple injuries that few fans were aware of. This would lead to surgeries behind the scenes.
We’ll delve into what went on, along with taking a look at other behind-the-scenes issues that affected his mental health as well.
In the moment, it all felt okay. Brendan Fraser was riding high, working project after project during the late ’90s and into the early 2000s. However, by the time the third Mummy film came around, the actor started to feel some burnout. Not only that, but he was in rough shape physically, from all the stunts he had been working years prior. According to Fraser’s own words with GQ, it hurt his career in a major way. “I believe I probably was trying too hard, in a way that’s destructive.”
“By the time I did the third Mummy picture in China,” which was 2008, “I was put together with tape and ice—just, like, really nerdy and fetishy about ice packs. Screw-cap ice packs and downhill-mountain-biking pads, ’cause they’re small and light and they can fit under your clothes. I was building an exoskeleton for myself daily.”
Eventually, the injuries started piling up and that meant lots of surgery work to get various strains repaired, “I needed a laminectomy. And the lumbar didn’t take, so they had to do it again a year later.”
Not only is Fraser making a comeback but fans couldn’t be happier. Fraser got all choked up when a fan discussed how happy he was that the actor was set to return, “The internet is so behind you! We’re so supportive,” a fan said to Fraser. “There are so many people out there who love you, and we’re rooting for you, and we can’t wait to see what you do next.” Fraser had to take a second and regroup following the statement, as it clearly got to him.
