The Inappropriate Scene at the Olympics Opening Ceremony You Didn’t See on TV

On Friday at the opening of the Olympic ceremony in Tokyo it appears that certain parts of the coverage didn’t go as planned.

Especially when a TV network aired “inappropriate” images but since doing so have issued an apology.

However the images have caused many to be shocked.

Scroll down to find out exactly what happened…

The 2020 Olympics were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic

Most countries were in lockdown to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Restrictions were in place for many people over the last few months.

Which limited social contact in order to slow the spread of the virus.

Because of this…

Many major events and large social gatherings have had to be canceled or postponed.

Most events and festivals were affected globally.

Including the infamous Coachella, which is now set to take place in 2022.

Many major sporting events also took a hit.

The UEFA European Football Championship was instead postponed until last month.

However the biggest cancelation has been the Olympics.

The highly anticipated Olympic Games takes place once every 4 years in different major cities across the world.

2016’s Olympic Games were hosted in the vibrant city of Rio De Janeiro…

Japan’s was meant to host the sporting event in 2020.

Everyone was anticipating Tokyo olympics.

People were excited for a long summer of sporting events.

Sadly the coronavirus outbreak put peoples excitement on pause…

All large social gatherings and sporting events were canceled.

The organizers of Tokyo 2020 along with the IOC released a joint statement:

“The unprecedented and unpredictable spread of the outbreak has seen the situation in the rest of the world deteriorating… The IOC president and the prime minister of Japan have concluded that the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo must be rescheduled to a date beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021, to safeguard the health of the athletes, everybody involved in the Olympic Games and the international community.”

So many people were totally devastated by the decision…

Unfortunately athletes were hit the hardest with this news.

Athletes that had qualified were left heartbroken by the delay.

But now the Olympics are in full swing.

The Games started on July 23, which will continue until August 8, 2021.

Strict precautions and restrictions are in place at the Games which includes requiring athletes to have daily saliva tests.

Anyone attending is required to wear a mask and spectators have been barred from most Olympic events.

This Olympics is very different to what has ever been experienced before…

Most people are so relieved to see it take place.

The opening ceremony took place last week…

Things appeared to go smoothly, however there was actually something that went very wrong…

A TV networks coverage of the ceremony used what has now been deemed as “inappropriate” photos and captions to refer to countries competing in the games.

People on the internet have a lot to say about it….

South Korean TV network, MBC’s coverage of the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony drew criticism after it aired “inappropriate” photos and captions to refer to countries competing in the games.

The broadcaster showed a photograph of Chernobyl, the site of the 1986 nuclear power plant disaster, as Ukraine’s athletes entered the stadium, Agence France-Presse reports.

In addition to that they also showed picture of a pizza when representatives for Italy’s entered…

Salmon was displayed for Norway, sushi for Japan, a scene of unrest for Haiti, and an image of the fictional Dracula for Romania.

Following heavy criticism online MBC issued an apology saying:

MBC used inappropriate images and captions to introduce some countries during the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony on July 23. We sincerely apologise to the countries concerned and the viewers.

What are your thoughts on their actions?
