Armed Police have opened fire and shot a person outside the Houses of Parliament.
Several shots were fired, with Scotland Yard saying it was called to a firearms incident on Westminster Bridge on Wednesday afternoon, moments after a loud bang was heard inside the estate.
Eyewitness reports says a ‘man with a knife’ was seen within the grounds.
Westminster was placed on immediate lock down.
People in Westminster could be seen running from the scene when the shots were heard.
The House of Commons was suspended by Deputy Speaker Lindsay Hoyle.
Politicians and journalists have tweeted about hearing loud crashes outside the buildings.
Air Ambulance has since landed in Parliament Square.
