Finally his cause of death has been revealed.

His death certificate which was released just hours ago finally confirmed Connery’s cause of death.

Incredible life.

Connery came from humble beginnings before making a huge name for himself in the film industry.

Connery was perhaps best known for playing James Bond…

He was the first actor to bring the James Bond role to our screens.

Connery appeared in seven spy thrillers.

Connery also starred in Dr. No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), and You Only Live Twice (1967).

Connery then reappeared as Bond later on…

And starred again as Bond in Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and Never Say Never Again (1983).

Connery is widely renowned as the greatest James Bond, ever.

However, he was far more than just 007 – starring in a plethora of critically acclaimed films.

Some of his best movies include:

Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade, The Hunt for Red October, and Time Bandits, amongst many many more.

Connery also earned many awards for his acting,

He claimed the BAFTA in 1986 for The Name Of The Rose.

Connery was also knighted by The Queen of England.

In 2000, one of his proudest moments occurred when he was knighted by the Queen of England in Edinburgh for his services to film and drama.

It Doesn’t End There.

In addition to being knighted Connery was also voted several times as “The Greatest Living Scot” and “Scotland’s Greatest Living National Treasure.”

Naturally tributes have poured in for the actor since the news of his death was announced.

When I was a student in Edinburgh in the early 80s, we rented a flat in Marchmont. The old lady who owned it told us very proudly that Sean Connery used to be her milkman when he was a young lad. A Scottish icon then & now. Goodbye, Mr Bond.

Another said:

Damn you, Sean Connery…I was not planning on crying this morning. Rest in Peace.”

A third fan tweeted:

The Name’s Bond… James Bond
first person to say that iconic dialogue….!!!

RIP Sir Sean Connery you only live twice they say
But you live forever in our hearts.”

The official James Bond Twitter account paid tribute to Connery.

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli also left a tweet.

They went on to say:

He revolutionized the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent. He is undoubtedly largely responsible for the success of the film series and we shall be forever grateful to him.”

Other tributes poured in from around the acting world.

Every day on set with #SeanConnery was an object lesson in how to act on screen. But all that charisma and power – that was utterly unique to Sean. RIP that great man, that great actor.

The Greatest Showman actor, Hugh Jackman, also posted a tweet.

“I grew up idolizing #SeanConnery. A legend on screen, and off. Rest In Peace.”

Daniel Craig also pays a tribute.

It is with such sadness that I heard of the passing of one of the true greats of cinema.

Sir Sean Connery will be remembered as Bond and so much more. He defined an era and a style. The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in mega watts; he helped create the modern blockbuster.

Craig concluded:

He will continue to influence actors and film-makers alike for years to come. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Wherever he is, I hope there is a golf course.

Connery was feeling unwell for a while.

Survived by his family.

Connery is survived by his wife, Micheline Roquebrune, a French-Moroccan painter, who he married in 1975. Along with his son Jason, from a previous marriage to Diane Cileto.

Micheline paid an emotional tribute to him and revealed heartbreaking details about his health issues:

He was gorgeous and we had a wonderful life together. He was a model of a man. It is going to be very hard without him, I know that. But it could not last forever and he went peacefully.

Micheline also remarked:

He was not able to express himself latterly. At least he died in his sleep and it was just so peaceful. I was with him all the time and he just slipped away. It was what he wanted.

Connery’s cause of death has been revealed…

Almost a month after his tragic passing the death certificate has been released which confirms he passed peacefully while sleeping. There were other factors related to his death mentioned in the cert.

His death resulted in respiratory failure as a result of pneumonia, old age, and atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rate that can increase the risk of strokes, heart failure, and other heart-related complications) resulted in his death.
