DEADLY DISEASE: PEOPLE BE CAREFUL, IT IS TRANSMITTED BY DOGS!

This happens to be a deadly disease by the name of Leishmaniasis, which is also spelt as leishmaniosis and it is pretty common in the Middle East and Syria. Although, this is not of common occurrence in the West, you should still be very careful as the main carriers of this disease are dogs, and then the flies and ticks and it can cause open wounds, bleeding from the nose, as well as difficulty in breathing and swallowing.

Leishmaniasis is divided into various types: –

The cutaneous Leishmaniasis is the most common one, in which it causes an open sore, which is located in the place of the bite, and it heals in about six months to a year, leaving a very unpleasant -looking scar. The diffuse cutaneous Leishmaniasis can produce skin lesions all across the skin, and it would somewhat resemble leprosy and may not heal on its own.

The mucocutaneous Leishmaniasis causes the mucosal ulcers as well as the skin with a lot of damage, particularly located in the area of the mouth and the nose.

The visceral Leishmaniasis is fatal, if left untreated. Amongst other consequences, it could happen a few months to a few years after the infection, and it will include fever, damage to the liver and the spleen as well as cause anaemia.

Dogs are the primary carriers of this infectious disease, and it is also possible to be transferred by flies or any other insects that live on the surface of the dogs. The threat is particularly high for the Middle East due to the current circulation of migrants, and also due to the fact that it’s pretty late for the symptoms to develop once the disease attacks your body.

It can also be transmitted via ticks, as the main route of its transmission also comes from dogs to the human beings. The disease cannot be transferred from one human to the other, although, theoretically, it can only happen through the blood transfusion. The greatest risk lies for the street dogs. The disease can be easily treated, but the treatment is often long and difficult.

In addition to the disease being in Syria, it can also spread to Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, and a lot of other Middle East countries. In recent times, there was an increase in the number of patients in Turkey.
