You can’t stay forever on a show,” Behar explained “I am graciously exiting stage left.”

I’ve put in 16 1/2 years and felt the time was right. I want to explore other opportunities,” she said.

During an interview with journalist Ramin Setoodeh regarding The Explosive Inside Story of The View, Behar expressed her intentions to leave the show.

Behar excitedly spoke about her intentions to leave the show once her contract ended with ABC.

I have a three-year contract,” Behar remarks. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t leave if I want to, because they can’t really do anything to me at this point. I don’t see myself staying for more [time]. That’s it!”

Behar also made it clear that she may not quit depending on how she feels.

I could be wrong. If I’m as fabulous in [2022] as I am now, I’ll think about. But the chances of that happening…” she said. “You know, time marches on. I’m not a kid.”

Variety wanted confirmation whether the interview was true or not, they confronting The View to determine if Behar’s retirement was imminent.

ABC fired Behar in 2013, as a result of her being political. However, tshe was invited back for guest appearances until two years later when she was taken back on the show as a full-time host.

Joy published a book which she called The Great Gasbag: An A–Z Study Guide to Surviving Trump World.

On 13 March, Behar decided to take leave from The View because of the coronavirus. She was not prepared to commute for the show because “I’m in a higher risk group because of my age, but I’m perfectly healthy.”
