The moment nine-year-old Noah glanced across a restaurant one early morning, he spied a Lakeland, Florida, police officer seated alone having his morning lunch break. He instantly became anxious and wasn’t sure how to behave.
Knowing what he wanted to do, he informed his mother about his plan. What he done that very morning in the restaurant made the police officer jump out of his chair. The Law enforcement officer was overwhelmed with what the little young man did for him…
Noah has a goal in life and that very goal is to become a police officer himself one day. Noah asked his mother, Amanda Cantin, if he could approach the office and say “Hello” to Officer Eddie Benitez. Amanda and Noah were at a local Denny’s eating their breakfast as it was “Bring Your Child To Work Day”. Being the loving mom she is she had no second thoughts of bringing her son with her.
As Noah went to approach the officer, he froze. Not know what he would say to the officer, so he devised a plan to put a smile on the officer’s face. Recently he had saved up all of his birthday money, so he decided he would go above and beyond and pay for the police officer’s breakfast to show his appreciation.
Flagging down a waitress, both mom and son informed her that Noah would be paying the bill for Officer Benitez. When they got the receipt, Noah wrote a very special note to the officer. With the help of his mother he wrote a heartfelt message on the receipt.
“I want to be you when I grow up. Thank you for your service.”
Noah then nervously walked toward Officer Benitez with the receipt in hand. When he handed the receipt to the officer, he was stunned, so stunned in fact he jumped from his seat and insisted on having a photo taken with his little fan, Amanda said.
“He didn’t understand why this little boy was walking down there with his tab. His face was very shocked.”
The officer is so taken back by the generosity of the young man that he carries it with him everywhere he goes.
“It meant everything. It meant that I’m supposed to wake up every morning and put on this uniform and go out there and do what I do. You know? It means that I need to keep trying to be a good example to all these young guys.”
When Lakeland Police Department found out about the generosity young Noah showed to one of their officers they shared the photo on their facebook page. They also thanked Noah for the kind gesture he had done for Officer Benitez.
“Well Noah, you touched all of our hearts today. Your support means so much to all of the men and women who put on the uniform every day.”
Young Noah was over the moon with the response from the Police Department. He has dreamed of being a police officer for well over four years now and is driven to fulfill his dream.
“I’m going to make the world a better place and capture the bad guys.”
Mom Amanda said if her son decides to become a police officer in 10 years time that she would be “one very proud mom.” We are pretty sure that Officer Benitez would be very happy with Noah also. We wish Noah the best of luck in chasing his dream and making it a reality in the future.
