Valinda Cortez recently had the opportunity to step up and become a hero. Some of us might not grab these opportunities by the horns but she knew exactly what she had to do.
She saw a dog that had been abandoned in a parking lot in North Carolina.
The poor animal had been dumped out during a rainstorm. I could not get much worse than this.
When Valinda found a dog she was only wearing flip-flops and pj’s. This did not stop her to coming to the rescue.
It was going to take a long time for her to build up to Dogs Trust. What’s she going to be able to help the dog or what’s it going to be too late. This could easily have become a sad story about an abandoned dog that no one came to recognize.
Luckily for this dog Valinda was the type of person who would stop at nothing in order to help someone in need.
Since the animals in this area lack the resources to help themselves they’re usually forced to have to rely on someone else for assistance or kind human beings to happen to be in the area at the time.
It was very clear to see that this dog had been abandoned for a very long time.
If she did not do something then this dog was going to die very soon. His hair was all matted from the rain.
He’s also looked like his eyes had become severely infected. She would need to act as fast as she could if she was going to save the poor dogs life.
Luckily she had a red blanket in the backseat of her car. Once she covered the dog with the blanket she contact and her friend Sue. Who works as a volunteer at the local animal shelter and Valinda knew that she was going to be able to help.
They ended up calling the dog Cassie and took her to the local animal shelter for more help. If it was not for this kind woman then who knows what might of happened to this poor dog.
Cassie made a full recovery and was then adopted into a new loving home. She was lucky to find a forever home but other abandoned dogs are not always this lucky. Most other dogs that are abandoned may end up lost or even dead.
This story needs to be shared to show people that they cannot just abandon their dogs and hope someone like Valinda comes on saves them. Especially with Christmas coming up and children wanting a dog as a pet we need to get this message out there. Share this story with friends and family.
