Picking the name of your unborn child can be a long and tiring process and sometimes even a very stressful one. Some parents do not settle on the name until the child is actually born. Once you have the name it’s really the best feeling ever.
For what mother her daughter’s name sounded very different in her head then it did when people actually said it out loud.User AutumnName wrote on Mumsnet her story.
The mother told us “My daughter was born on Halloween (2016) and I named her Autumn. I really like the look of it and the sound of it in my head. Since using it as a name, it doesn’t seem to work as well.”
“Whenever I say her name, I normally get a look and an ‘Autumn? Like the season?’ And it’s embarrassing.”
The mother also said that her family and friends were not big fans of the name and really did not embrace it.
If it was the woman’s mother’s decision she would have named the child Matilda.
Due to everyone not been able to pronounce the name the mother thought it was best to get the name changed.
Online users were pretty divided in their opinion about what this mother should do. Some people didn’t have a problem with the name being changed but more had a problem with this woman’s mother.
People wrote things like, “I like it. Your mom should be happy you didn’t call her Hally, short for Halloween.” Another wrote, “Autumn is a beautiful name. Don’t change her name, change your mum instead!”
Others seemed to be on board with changing her name, noting that the baby is still pretty young to be affected by a name change.
The majority, however, thought that the name Autumn is a gorgeous name and that this mom should embrace it and not let the people around her affect her decision on naming her daughter Autumn.
