Man Finally Goes To Check On Uncle With Alzheimers, Finds This Monster Living With Him

One of the toughest decisions to make is putting a loved one into a home. Paul Russell had to make this decision with an 82 year old relative. His relative was suffering from Alzheimer’s and was no longer able to recognize any of his family members or even his friends. To make matters worse they would not allow him to bring his beloved 17-year-old cat to the nursing home with him.

Paul told his old relative that he would take care of the cat with his wife. When they arrived to their uncle’s house in order to pick up the cat they were amazed at what they saw. The cat whose name was Siam was nowhere to be seen and Paul then realized his uncle was also a hoarder and the house was filled with large boxes and there were scratch marks from the cat everywhere.

Suddenly Paul spotted the cat. She was hidden away in behind a bunch of boxes and she looked miserable. The poor cat looked like she had not eaten in days. Then all of a sudden Paul heard this loud growling noise from the cellar. He thought maybe it was a raccoon that somehow snuck into the basement.

Paul said:
I started searching around, and suddenly this huge creature darts out from under the bed and runs down to the cellar, and I thought, ‘What was that? At first, I thought it was a cat that had a blanket on top of it,

Paul left and took a break and decided he would return the next day more equipped to look and see what was in the cellar.

Paul then said:
“The next day, I went into the creepy old cellar… I’m down there with a flashlight looking — it was almost like a horror movie. And I found her hunkering in the corner. I thought, ‘My god this IS a cat.’”

What Paul saw was some type of cat that had fur so long it looked similar to a wild creature and it looked like it had long tentacles hanging from its body.

Paul then contacted the Pennsylvania Humane Society and they were even shocked and said they had never witnessed anything like this.

They said:

“Hidey was really overweight, so that makes it harder for cats to groom themselves, and that’s when you see matting happen,” Western PA Humane Society Senior Marketing Communications Manager Caitlin Lasky said. “They hadn’t seen anything like that. Even looking online, I had a hard time finding anything similar, so it’s definitely a unique case.”

The hospital staff had to be very careful when they were moving the mats of hair from the poor cat and they tried not to make any mistakes.

They had to put the poor cat under general anesthetic and then began cutting away at the overgrown hair.

“Our Medical team shaved off the pounds of intertwined fur from her body and, needless to say, this cat is feeling so much better now!” read the the shelter’s Facebook post. “The fur had accumulated up to two pounds in weight! Lots of fur. It had to be years of matting for it to get that long.”
